Hart Associates started out as a big dream, a little money and a lot of hard work. In 1965, Bill Hart and his wife Peggy began designing lighting and accessories out of their workshop in Vienna, Louisiana. Having both earned their degrees in Interior Design, they wanted to create something distinctive that could not be found on the market at that time. Originally called Country Shop, the line featured mostly hand painted fixtures. Six years later, Charles Hart joined the company and helped bring Country Shop's unique products to a national level. In 1980 the name changed to Hart Associates and the range of designs expanded to what it is today. Custom design work remains as the heart of the business and continues to be the focus 40 years later.
